Kyamboobo Primary School (Sanitation)
The Problem
At Kyamboobo, students and teachers have had no clean, safe place to go to the bathroom. There was no private washing area for girls, so older girls tended to not bother going to school. There was no hand washing, the latrines were collapsing and urine drained directly into the area where children play. Disease spread and dignity suffered. Parents and the district were very concerned the school would close soon.
The Solution
A 10-stance latrine with handicapped facilities, girls washing area and child-friendly stances and hand washing facility.
