Join us for the 10th Annual 4 Miles 4 Water on June 10th, 2023 – Register Today!

Project Location: Luweero District, Uganda

People Served: Boys 189, Girls 158 and 12 Teachers

Project Funding Needed: $9,200

The Problem

Two ‘water sources’ have been compromised. One, 1km away was taken by a factory and an open dam 6km (roundtrip) is shared with animals and many other villagers- students are not given permission or priority to fetch water. Both sources have major safety concerns such as water quality, drowning, accidents and attacks on girls. Students spend almost two hours each day, missing class, to collect dirty water. When collected, it is not boiled or filtered.

The Solution

Deep borehole 70-80m – two potential sites were located during DLDT surveying in September 2019
