Nabugoya Village (Gravity-fed Water System)
The Problem
Large water project was built a few years ago to serve this area and did not work long for this community. In addition to this, east Africa and specifically Mbale Uganda is facing issues of famine and water stress as drought takes over this highly populated area.
The Solution
Following similar lines of the previous project, DLDT will create gravity-fed taps to serve the local school, the Stern Synagogue compound and Nabugoya Village. While waiting for this project to happen, DLDT teamed up with the community to temporarily collect water because of the desperation of the community who contacted DLDT. This place is facing a true crisis, like many places in east Africa, and DLDT opened 160,000 liters of rainwater harvesting in July 2018.
