How is it possible that 2.2 billion people still haul dirty water for miles on foot? In contrast, our own Lake Erie here in Cleveland, Ohio, is plagued with pollution. These are the issues that Drink Local Drink Tap grapples with every single day. Our work is rooted in water equity: we strive for all people to have the ability to access clean, affordable water. We do this by protecting our water resources, advocating for underserved communities, recognizing the United Nations Declaration of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation, and building affordable, sustainable water and sanitation systems.

Our sustainable water projects are important because water is a human right. Building new water sources is easy, but making them last takes investment in humans and relationships. Drink Local Drink Tap focuses on human connection at schools, in slums, and at refugee camps. Over half of the hospital beds in the world are filled with people who are sick because of waterborne illness. Together, we can change that.
